Mac Web Hosting Done Right

Despite whether you website is for fun or for pleasure, MAC web hosting offers many positives as well as challenges. If someone has no MAC web hosting experience, they may believe that it is too hard. In reality, it isn't that difficult.

The initial step when thinking of using a MAC web hosting firm is to check out companies with high ratings among consumers. Many sites that you may find rate various companies based on a number of factors. Some sites will even let raters leave their own remarks. These help you to get a feel for how easily an average person will be able to work with them.

Next, you'll need to think of the scope of the various MAC web hosting firms. That is, if you're a small business that is just starting up, you won't want some big New York City kind of firm whose primary goal is to get your work out there rapidly. In contrast, if you're a big firm with some aggressive advertising desires, you wouldn't desire a much smaller company that would take its good old time.

Once you have decided on which size firm is ideal for you and your needs, you must check out pricing plans. Not all firms list prices online, since they might vary according to extras which you might or might not want. Thus, this step may necessitate some calls on your part. But obtaining the ideal price after all is said and done will make this effort pay off.

If you find that the place that you really want is simply just out of your budget, then there are things that you can do. One thing that Mac web hosting companies will sometimes agree to with your company is a lower fee in return for advertising space on your website. It can't hurt to ask this, you never know what they will say.

After all is decided upon and you know just what company you're happy with, it's very important to get it all in writing. Not only will this save you in case the company isn't on the up and up, but it will also make things much clearer for all parties on either side.

The first thing to look at when you are trying to choose a Mac web host is to look at approval ratings among customers. When you are considering a Mac hosting company, you need to think about your specific needs compared to what the company offers. After you have picked what size firm is the best fit for you, the next step is comparing price plans. Sometimes the Mac web hosting site accepts lower prices for their labor if you will agree to advertise on their behalf on your website. This is always worth a try, and it will not hurt to ask.

Web Hosting MAC - User Friendly Platform Can Save You Time

When you're starting up your own website, it's important to find the right hosting company. There are several things to take into consideration when deciding what is best for you. Finding a web hosting MAC based company is a great idea for those who use MAC computers instead of PCs.

There are several differences between a web hosting MAC based company and the more common PC variety. There are a lot of great programs specific to MAC computers that can be utilized by web hosting companies that take their needs into consideration.

A MAC based web hosting company will certainly make your life easier in a number of ways. When you enlist a provider that understands your MAC platform, you won't be forced to download unnecessary plug-ins and add-ons that try to make the MAC adapt to the PC world. Don't waste your time; get true MAC support for your MAC.

Don't underestimate the value of a web hosting company that is user friendly with the MAC platform. Instead of spending your valuable time trying to adapt to the PC world, you'll be focused on your website's content and the features that let you enjoy building your site.

There are companies everywhere that do work within the limit of the MAC users needs. You will have to search for a company that works best for you. Using the web to search for a good company that works with your needs would be wise. After finding a selective few you should compare the differences between the companies. What is their cost and what extras are presented to you. Also check how user friendly their services are.

Once you have limited yourself to a small amount of companies who meet in with your needs. Now that you have found the few web hosting MAC companies, it would be wise to see how their reputations are. Searching for a company which has outstanding customer service as well as customer support. You can find different consumer websites that will help in giving you the rankings of companies depending on their criteria.

Finding a web hosting Mac based company is a great idea for those who use Mac computers instead of PCs. Working with a web hosting company that focuses on being user friendly for Mac users will make the entire process much faster. Mac users will find many companies that are willing to service their needs but it takes focused individual research to find the best fit. Start with a basic web search and then compare the prices and services of various providers. Consider price, customer service and any extras that you can actually use.

Basics of HTML

All web pages and websites on the Internet exist fundamentally as text files saved with the HTML extension. Web browsers read these text files, decided based on them (and based on HTML defaults) which formatting choices to use on a page, generate all content from the text file and link to all images, and ultimately display the page.

Of course it's impossible to talk to a web browser in natural language: saying in plain language to "make the margins one inch on all sides" is easy to understand for a human layout editor, but impossible for a computer. Which is why--as we touched on in the first chapter--standard protocols for online systems were a necessary condition for the growth of the Internet. In order for two computers to talk to one another--and in order to ensure that they're talking in the way that the user intends--it's necessary to speak a common language, which is essentially what HTML and other internet protocols are.

HTML (or "Hypertext Markup Language") is the most successful online formatting protocol yet devised, and should be the basis for any good website. It's also a fairly simple language to learn (as opposed to object-oriented languages like Java or C#, which require a much greater working knowledge of computers and a much greater willingness to spend time organizing a program.) HTML is essentially a formatting guideline rather than a true programming language, which explains some of its versatility and ease of use.

So in order to learn DIY coding (or to learn how to talk intelligently to your web designer), we first have to learn some key features of HTML.

How Should You Collect Money on Your Web Site?

The one site feature that you're unlikely to be able to provide on your own is a working system for buying products, sending shipping orders, and transferring customer's payments to your account. Systems like this are extremely complicated to code, difficult to integrate into a page, and above all risky in terms of security. You don't want to take a chance on building your own commerce system from scratch, starting to take customer orders, and then finding out that someone has hacked your system and reduced your business bank account to zero.

You have two options for getting around this problem: hiring a very, very good coder with experience in this area (which we'll talk about more in the next chapter), or going with a proprietary coding system. The former option--hiring an experienced coder and building your system from scratch--is riskier and costlier up front, but has some advantages in terms of site design and simplifying your accounting operations. The latter option--using a proprietary system--is safer in terms of site security and more familiar to many users (who tend to use systems like Paypal or BitPass for several different types of online purchase), but also comes with a price: hefty transaction fees and possible content restrictions. Which you choose is up to you, but if you think you have an excellent coder and a good system for taking in revenue, go with the former option: you'll lose some money up front, but you'll tend to gain more in the long-term in saved transaction fees.

Top Software Programs For Web Site Design

Word processing and spreadsheets were the first of the killer apps for home computers when PCs first started to propagate to the millions of households out there. Then, there were Internet Browsers that took everyone by storm. So what are the hot categories and hot products now? There are more products out there now, than ever before for the home shopper and many of them are so incredible. In fact if I actually wanted to I could have done a top 100. The list is neither exhaustive nor scientific, but the products listed here are definitely great! If you have a computer at home, take a look at these products! I looked over many, many different products and product categories to find the best web site designer software programs, so with out further ado:

Adobe Dreamweaver 8 -

If you want to produce intricate Internet sites with e-commerce characteristics such as shopping carts, real-time database interaction, drop-down website menus and integrated multimedia, Dreamweaver is the optimum (albeit expensive) choice of web authoring tools for Windows and Mac users. Adobe Dreamweaver 8 is the darling of the professional web design community for its powerhouse features, including powerful support for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and all major scripting languages. Critical Reviews agree that although installing is a breeze and the user interface is so well organized that it gives an illusion of easiness, Dreamweaver is anything but easy. It is a heavy duty software developed for the most sophisticated web design and editing user. Great for professionals, but not advised for the beginner! I consider myself to be pretty technically inclined and though I absolutely love Dreamweaver and wish I could use it, its damn near impossible for me! Before spending hundreds, be sure to check yourself at the door, swallow your pride, and do the trial!

Coffee Cup Software -

Reviews say CoffeeCup 2006 is a proficient choice in website software for the everyday home or small business user. It's best for those seeking for a far less expensive and intimidating product that will still yield very impressive results. You don't need a $400 program like Dreamweaver just to design simple, effective websites. CoffeeCup is easy to learn, with an outstanding tutorial to accommodate novices. Coffee Cup lacks advanced e-commerce characteristics, so it's best for straightforward home or business Web Sites. You'll still need a domain name and a web-hosting service to actually post your Website.

Adobe Illustrator CS3 -

With Adobe Illustrator CS3 the user can design artwork for practically anything. Illustrator CS3 was designed with leading edge drawing tools, color tools, and type controls that aid the user in creating and experimenting with new ideas. The user friendly options allow for less time spent on each project which in turn improves performance and work out put. Adobe has integrated Illustrator to be compatible with other Adobe programs.

UltraEdit 14 Text Editor -

UltraEdit is the perfect text, HTML and HEX editor, and an advanced PHP, Perl, Java and JavaScript editor for programmers. An industry-award winner, UltraEdit supports disk-based 64-bit file handling (standard) on 32-bit Windows platforms (Windows 2000 and later). Powerful Text, HEX, HTML, PHP and Programmer's Editor. Suitable for general text editing, programmer's, web designers, binary editing, email, and all your editing needs.

SmartFTP -

SmartFTP is an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client which allows you to transfer files between your local computer and a server on the Internet. With its many basic and advanced features SmartFTP also offers secure, reliable and efficient transfers that make it a powerful tool.

Web Studio 4.0 -

Now includes drag and drop PayPal shopping carts, vista and Internet Explorer 7.0 compatibility, flash slide shows and text fx. Web Studio is easy-to-use web design software that lets anyone to produce professional-looking web pages in just minutes. With web studio's drag-and-drop interface, WYSIWYG layout and easy-to-use features, building a web site is easy and exciting. And Web Studio's fully-integrated site hosting makes publication a snap. Free website hosting is also available to help you preview your work online! Whether you require a business web site or personal web pages, Web Studio is the web design software of choice.

Of course there are so many other software programs out there, but these were the ones that got the highest ratings for text editing, web design, logo editing and ftp. One of the best sites you can look at for further discussion on these, and other programs available to the new designer or the advanced designer is CNET. Good luck finding the best program to fit all your needs.

Graphic and Web Designers Available

Most of the time you can find a designer that really stands behind his or her work. They believe that they not only can do you a solid job in building your site around your niche, but they genuinely want you to succeed, and are building the site for you, or doing graphic design, in hopes that everything will work out for you in the end, and that your business will boom. This isn't a very typical reason is it? Usually people just want to get what they want and get paid and move on.

However, I know a few designers that take great pride in their work, and the quality they can give to the end user, which in most cases are people like you and I, shopping around on a site, or looking for a service, or company to contact. These people believe that only high quality graphic design and web design will deliver the corporate image you want to project for your company. Whether your approach is hi-tech, funny, or straight edged, they can supply a professional blueprint reflecting of your business and geared towards getting you attention and results. Stimulating concepts, well-executed designs, and eye popping graphics is guaranteed to make your clients and your potential clients sit up and take notice.

Graphic Design touches on so many stages of your business. These designers provide a large group of services to meet all of your needs, from marketing to operations to customer service. Some of the "jobs" are listed below:

Brochures
Catalogs
Flyer's
Illustration
Invitations
Logo Design
Menu Design
Newsletters
Package Design
Posters
Stationery
Web Site Design
and more!

These guys really mean business. And when they commit to do your site, you won't even realize the work that needed done, until you see the finishing product that they the designer came up with! Seriously I will never be able to thank my designer enough for the amazing job he did on my website. It doesn't even look like the old drab site I used to have! We live in a constantly changing world where nothing stays in place for long. Just a few years ago everybody was amazed at personal home pages made in FrontPage and an opportunity to tell the world about you. Today the web is ruled by social networks, blogs and E-commerce. From every corner we can hear buzzwords like web 2.0, RSS, ajax, etc. Every day thousands of new websites emerge! Are you going to have a boring unnoticed page? Or are you going to go get a designer and get the best damn web page anyone has ever seen?!? Don't be foolish! Hiring a designer could potentially be the "change" you are looking for!

A How-To Guide For New Web Designers

This article can be used if you are a web designer new or old, or if you want an idea of the things you should or shouldn't be asking your web designer to place on your website. Firstly, you have a site because its convenient, quick, easy, maneuverable and you can get a lot of use out of it right? Plus it's ultimately a "picture" of you. Since people can't visually see you, the website speaks for you. It doesn't really seem to matter if you have the best product known to man, if the website your running is poorly designed, you won't be able to even sell one item because, visitors will be driven off by the horrible design!

When people talk about good design, they aren't only talking about it in a graphical sense. They are talking about an over all sense of design such as interface, layout, accessibility, user-friendly, colors, etc. Listed below I have noted some features of some of the worst designs I have come across over the years. And this isn't just Kristi's Worst Of, these features are on a lot of other people's lists as well.. so take heed! Listen up and pay attention, you could very well have some of the features on your site right now! Oh the humanity!

Font -
Your font on your site should be legible and sized correctly. Don't make it so big that it literally makes people cross-eyed, but also don't make it so small that people need to get out their magnifying glass! There is a happy medium with font. If you can't pick a good font face or size, ask a friend, they will be more than willing to tell you the truth. Just don't ask a loved one like a girlfriend or mom, chances are they will lie!

Pop-Ups -
In a lot of cases I'll let this go because I understand this is a scheme to either make you money, or a way to make me want to join your list. But keep the pop-ups to a minimum and please make sure they aren't "adult" pop-ups. The last thing I need nor want is to be on a site about flowers, all intent on concentrating on the screen, when *POP* an adult site comes out from no where! Not good! Not PG! Not professional at all! Also, make sure if possible to set your "pop-ups" on a timer. Sites like aweber will allow you to send X amount of pop-ups to the same visitor X amount of time for X amount of days. Make good use of this option.

Background Music -
There is an exception to every rule. Most people say nay to background music I say yay as long as it follows these stipulations; No "fairyland" or "fairytale" music. That is just annoying. No rock n roll, head banging, screaming music. If you are going to have music on your site, make sure its "calming" music. No I'm not talking about elevator music! I'm just talking about instrumental, soft, calming music. Or if you want to take the characteristic of your personality, and do a little ditty, that's cool too. Try some low energy, soothing techno/dance music. Just make sure it's tasteful!

In concluding this article, let me remind you that as a webmaster your job is to make sure your website does what it's meant to do effectively. Don't let some minor mistakes stop your site from functioning optimally!

Web Hosting Services For E-commerce Success

Have you ever wondered how Internet servers work? In keeping your web site well maintained, there is a need for an "Internet Host". There are quite a few different types of web hosting services and I will be explaining these as well as the concept of web hosting. Often when people are considering creating a website, their first question is- where do I start?

I am certain you must be familiar with the idea of 'domain name registration'. Just as every individual has a distinct driver's license number (or a passport number), similarly every website has a distinct domain name. That is to say, you simply cannot replicate a domain name that already is in existence.

You can certainly provide the same name just changing the extension part of the domain (like 'com', 'net' etc). Every website is linked to a server which in turn provides space to the website. However obtaining a space for your website and doing every thing on your own is not the only thing to do. Web Hosting is the major activity to be done in the virtual world of e-commerce

There are several types of web hosting servers available in the market today. Your choice of either a free standing or dedicated hosting server will be dictated by the size and nature of your business. The space provided by a server will also determine the cost of having one. There are many companies that manufacture portable servers for both small and large scale business users.

There are some individuals who contend that a free web host is superior to a paid web host. However, you will find that a paid web host offers a significantly more complete and dependable solution when compared to a free host. If you are a business owner who would like to run your business online, you need to choose a paid web host. Ad-supported 'web hosting services' are an inadequate solution.

You would not want your web site to face technical problems resulting in decrease in online traffic, isn't it? Paid hosting services offer round-the-clock technical assistance. There are some popular companies which offer affordable 'web hosting services'. Another area where paid web hosting proves to be better than free hosting is 'pop-ups'. Free hosting would flood your web site with a number of advertisements.

There are several types of web hosting servers and services available in the market today. Your choice of either a free standing, or a dedicated hosting server will be dictated by the size and nature of your business. Some people argue that free hosting is better than paid hosting. The truth is that paid hosting is much more reliable and comprehensive. If you own a business and wish to manage your online account, you must opt for paid web hosting. Free web hosting services can not provide the support and functionality required by an online business.

Web Design - It's a Personal Choice

When people are looking at ways to do their web design for their website, there are different things that they need to think about. These are what is going to help them choose the best web design that they can. Here are some things to consider when it comes to web design.

Target audience

The first thing that needs to be taken into consideration is the product or service's target audience. What is their gender, what is their age, what is their likes and dislikes? The audience should always be the first thing that is considered when it comes to web design.

Products

The second thing that needs to be considered is the type of products that the company is offering. After all, if you are offering baby products you don't want loud music and flashy colours.

Price

The third thing that should be considered when choosing web design is what price the products or services are. If the products or services are more expensive, the web design should be elegant and it should be something that should reflect the prices.

Budget

The last thing that a company should think about when they are choosing web design is their budget. After they have thought about the other things, they can look at the different options they have and choose one that they can afford.

Web design is something that requires a lot of thought. The same type of web design isn't going to work for every business because the web design should be as personal as the products are.

Errors Made in Web Design

When people are designing their webpage, they are often making errors that are going to make people shut down their website as fast as they can. Here are some of the more common errors that people make in web design and why they are things that should be avoided.

Loud music

One of the first things that people put on their website is loud music and it's not always appropriate. Of course, there are times when using loud music is a good idea - for a teen site, for example. But usually it's something that shouldn't be used. If you want to use loud music, give the person an option to turn it off.

Flashing lights/pictures

Another thing that should be avoided when it comes to web design are flashing lights and pictures. They may look cool and yes they are going to grab peoples' attention, but there are people who it may cause to have a seizure or to become sick. Therefore, it's better to be left off.

Confusing layout

The third thing that a lot of people do when it comes to web design is they make a confusing layout that is hard to navigate through. People don't want to go the long way around when it comes to a website. If the people visiting a site don't know where they are going, they are likely to close it and never come back.

Web design is something that is an art, but it's also something that should be able to be enjoyed by everyone.

Choosing The Right Web Hosting Services For Your Business

Let's face it: Internet nowadays is a must-have tool for no matter what sort of business you are running out there. No matter you're running a traditional funeral house biz or a hot dog stand near the park - a business website is necessary.

The function of a website also plays a huge role which could rocket your business immensely if you get the right type of website for yourself. If you have a large business, you will need a website that can store a huge amount of information. However, a website could also be use to obtain more traffic to your business. No matter what you needs may be, there will be a certain website which will satisfy your business needs.

The function of the website will depend on which sort of hosting you choose. If your company has many staff that will be in charge of the management of the website, you can opt for in-house option based website. By choosing this option, you will have to get all the components required such as the server, internet connection, software and hardware to have you system all set up. To make sure that your website operates well, you will need to hire a system administrator to manage the site. This is needed because there will be no management service included by the hosting company.

If handling your own website is too much to handle, you could choose the shared option hosting for your website. Shared option means that the server of the hosting company will be shared by many websites. The same goes for the hardware and internet connection. It is all shared. Therefore there is a limit to the websites bandwidth. So, it is not suitable for websites that need a lot of traffic. Sharing the server will also cause problems in the operating system of the software. This is likely to occur when security breach happens in another website shared in the same server.

If you can take the risk of sharing, there is another choice called the co-location. With this option, the hardware will be provided by the host company. Therefore the company will provide the bandwidth, electrical system and IP address. So, you can have control over the hardware without having it install at your office or workstation. Therefore, it saves you a lot of money because you don't have to spend extra cash on getting an extra space for your business. On the other hand, by using this kind of hosting, you will not be able to access you server at any time you desire. The only other problem you might face is difficulty in finding the hosting provider to suit your location.

Most company today uses the dedicated hosting option. For this option, all you need is the leasing of a server from hosting company. By choosing this kind of hosting, you will be provided with the internet connection and you can access the application, operating system and database of your website at any time. The hosting company will take care of the hardware and website maintenance. This option will give you the maximum result in driving more traffic to your website.

Plus on top of that, you will have great reliability with high bandwidth. The hosting companies also offer technician to help you update the server's security configuration. They will also provide support and advice regarding the function of the system in your website.

Finally, we have the dedicated and managed option. This option will provide you with all you can get from the dedicated option. In addition to that, you can get additional services like security monitoring, upgrades, updates, support, troubleshooting, and administration advice from the hosting company. Therefore, no matter what your preferences might be, you will surely be able to get the kind of website to go along with you company.

So, have you made up your mind in which type of web hosting plan to go with? If yes, then it's time for you to pick up a web host. In such case, I would recommend you to check out my favourite web hosting service: HostMonster. Although they are new, but the web hosting features rocks! Have a look by yourself and you'll know what am I talking about.

The Significance of Dependable Web Hosting

Choosing a good website hosting provider can be quite a task. While some companies and individuals consider the prices of the website hosting packages that these firms offer to evaluate them, it is not just the price that should be taken into consideration. There are other factors that one has to look into in deciding the most appropriate website hosting provider.

First, the website hosting provider should ensure consistent and reliable up-time. One of the most frustrating issues of having a website is to find out that your webpage is offline particularly during peak times. e.g. you would be losing a lot of money in case your website goes offline during the peak holiday season. So make sure that your web hosting provider can guarantee continued up-time even during critical periods.

Then, there would be the issue of expandability. Your website may seem so simple and small at the start that it does not need extra features like additional email or added server space. But in the long run you can't be certain that it will grow in terms of traffic and customers. So your website hosting provider should be able to expand its coverage for you. If you need more website tools, they should be able to give you that.

Lastly, your site hosting service provider ought to have reliable and efficient customer service and support. In case problems arise, your provider must take care of your concerns as quickly as possible, unless you want to lose customers who will be disgruntled with your website.

Tips For Reasonable E-commerce Web Hosting Plans

Many small and new businesses want to establish an Internet presence. Being virtually new to the field, they are looking for reasonable web hosting providers that will suit their requirements and budget. This is not an easy thing to do despite the many website hosting companies in the market today. But there are proven ways for businesses to determine if the website hosting service they are getting is reliable, efficient, and most of all, reasonable.

Take time to understand the services being offered. Some provider would entice prospective clients with eye popping packages but in reality the services are not as reliable. So shop around and learn the pros and cons of each service being offered. Along with this you have to make sure that you understand the terms and conditions set by the website hosting provider.

Also, you need to make sure that the provider offers efficient web solutions to the clients and their customers. With the Internet making business easier and more personalized there is a growing clamor among people to do shopping at home. Now the website hosting company should be able to address your need for services and packages that will entice your clients to shop in your website. The website hosting company should provide adequate space and bandwidth to your website so you can put graphics, photos and other information that will be of use to your clients. The website hosting company should also have good, reliable customer service support to ensure that your website is always online.

The 3 Best Reasons To Build Your Own Website

You are probably reading this because you are considering building your own website. Many folks shy away from this task due to its technical nature. They feel they lack the technical knowledge to build a website in the first place. While this is often the case it is worthwhile noting that there are many tools out there that can help you build a site without having any technical knowledge.

Due to the fact that there are many tools there is the disadvantage of not of knowing which tool is going to best suit your needs. As you know too much information can lead to confusion. So to help you in this task I am going to share with you three reasons why you should build a site and which tool will best serve your needs.

The reason why you want to build a website should be clear in your mind, this way you will stay focused on the task at hand and get the pertinent information you need to achieve your goal. The number one reason to build a site is to put you in control of your objectives. Once you decide what your goals are you can then set about achieving those goals once you know what to aim for. The main reason why most people build a site is to make money online. By having your own site you will be in a far better position to do this.

The second reason to build a site is to build an online presence and as a result develop either your expertise or your business. For example when you have your own site you can capture people's information and build a customer base. The value of any business is determined upon what their customer base is and the relationship they have with them, as this enables perspective buyers of any business online or offline, to sell their product or service to a pre-existing customer base. Plus because you have customers, it provides you with revenue potential and this is what we are all after.

The third reason to build a website is to give you the ability to have numerous revenue models, one such revenue model is advertising. So let me tie all this together to illustrate my point. If you send traffic to someone else's website then that traffic is gone forever.

If you send it to your site, you can capture people's information and sell numerous products and services to them at any time. When you send traffic to somebody else's website if they do not take the actions you desire them to take, then you have no other option to make money, on the other hand if you send them to your site, they may click on an ad and make you more money. Lastly because your site will make money you have the option to sell it later for a big payday.

The best tools out there walk you through the process of not only building a site, but building it in a way that will draw traffic to your site. A good site builder will handle the technical aspects, take care of hosting for you and provide you with all the training you need to make it a profitable venture. So there you have it, my two cents is that if you are serious about making money online then you need to have your own website.

Getting a website for your company means, getting a global opening to your business, and a broader platform to market yourself. A website is a great step towards a better business platform provided you are aware of the functions involved or have got in touch with someone who will guide you through the process.

Build A Real Website That Works - Secrets To Help You Succeed

When it comes to building a successful website you need to think of one thing and that is your visitor. You need to build it with your visitor mind. They after all are the ones that will make the difference between your site being a success or failure. A site without visitors has no real value, other than the mere functionality of it.

The next factors you will need to have in mind are the search engines. How will your site be found? In what way will people be able to come across your site and get the information they need to move to the next step. How will you put the information in front of them? How will you present it in such a way that makes sense and that enables them to connect the dots and take the actions you desire them to take.

You see many entrepreneurs both online and offline start out with an idea and just go for it without ever considering exactly what they are aiming for. This approach will invariably lead to more failures over successes. So you need to understand what exactly you are trying to achieve and who is it that will be interested in what you have to offer.

Finally you will need to make sure once you put in all this hard work that your site will be up and working ninety nine percent of the time. Other wise all your hard work could end up being in vein. If you tie all these ingredients together then your success will come.

Easy Website Building Through Free Website Software

Website software offers you the easiest way to create your own website. With this, you won't have to spend huge amounts of money hiring a web development firm or a web designer to make your website for you. While website software can be obtained on CDs and installers, there is an easier way to get it, and this is through downloading it right into your own computer. The best thing about this process is that you can do it for free. As such, you can not only have your own website fast and easy, you can also make it with no cost at all.

While websites in the past were generally established to show important information and used as marketing tools for big companies; nowadays, even small-scale companies and individuals can have their own websites. This is through the availability of free software for websites that can be easily availed of online. With such software, you will be able to make a simple yet high-powered website that you can use either for your personal interests or for your business. Another good thing about this software is that you won't even have to be knowledgeable in coding languages like HTML.

Before you start creating your own website or even before you get hold of this free software, there are a number of basic steps that you need to follow.

First and foremost, you need to know the main goal of your website. If you already have an idea of what you will be using the site for, then you will already have a theme to base your content on. It is best that you make your content informative and interesting, so that you can capture the attention of the viewers of your website. You should also do some serious conceptualization on how you want to structure your site, giving special attention to its main navigation and its links. This way, once you have everything all set up and ready to go, making your own website will be just a breeze.

As you already have all the basics settled and you are ready to start your own site, it is time to look for that perfect software. While there are many different kinds of software available for this, you must go for the free ones if you want to save on the expense of making a website. It is just very easy to get free software because there is a good variety of software available for easy downloading on the Internet.

The best thing with free software, aside from being free, is that it comes with the general features that you will need to create your own site. Aside from the usual image insert and edit selections, the drag and drop feature and graphics operations, a web site software may also come with Flash, animation, a template builder as well as other tools and built-in functions that are essential for the creation of a website.

If you are worried that you do not know how to use this software, you shouldn't be anxious about it. This is because it can be used exactly the same way that software in CDs and installers is used. However, with this software, you can be spared the great cost of buying these CDs and installers, because such software can be downloaded for free right into your own computer. Aside from having no cost at all, free web site software is easily available and it can be easily used because of the programming editors and codes that it comes equipped with.

Now that you have known all the basics to start your own website, you need to learn about some simple tips that are used by professional web developers and designers when they make websites. It is best that you keep your web design as simple as can be, as this will make it more professional and tasteful to the eye. Stay away from pop-ups, as they can annoy your viewers. You should also try to use light colors for your background and cool colors for your text. With your free web site software, you can have a professional website that is very eye-catching, and it will certainly hold the attention of your target market or audience.

One of the main problems with free software is that it tends to be limited in what it can do. Don't get me wrong, you can build a good website with it, but if money is not so much a problem with you and you would rather have more functionality with your software, then there is also some fairly inexpensive software available that will do a fantastic job for you.

The type of website software you use depends on the type of website you want and the amount of money you have to spend, and while the free software is very, very good, you get a lot more if you are prepared to invest money to get a better looking site.

Choosing Your Website Creator Software

When you finally decide to create your web site your first question usually is what program do I use to create this site to end all sites? There are a couple of options you can choose from when it's time to create your site.

As always there are going to be pros and cons to each of the options available. I will briefly go over the options and then list the good and bad points of each one.

There are basically 3 different choices.

a. Download one of the free web page creator programs available.

b. Purchase a program like Dreamweaver, Expression Web, etc.

c. Use templates or a program on a hosting site.

c. I'll start from the bottom and work my way up. Many hosting sites offer some type of web site creating program if you sign up for their hosting program. They will usually have some selection of templates to choose from and then a program or editor, (usually called a "c-panel", editor, or something like that), that allows you to add content and edit to some extent the templates provided. Pros - no charge, quick easy set up. Cons - limited in to what you can actually do to customize your site, sometimes the editor can be confusing to use.

b. There are many good programs like Dreamweaver and Expression Web available. Although if you are on a limited budget they can be on the pricey side. There are lower priced ones available but obviously they won't have all the bells and whistles like the higher priced programs. Pros - You own the program, customizable to your hearts content, ability to do pretty much whatever you want. Cons - Can have a large learning curve to figure out how the heck to use it, can be pricey.

a. There are a couple of fairly good free programs to download that you can use to create your own site. I can think of three that I know that are pretty good. Of the 3 listed below I think Kompozer is your best choice.

Nvu -http://nvudev.com/index.php

Arachnophilia - http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/

Kompozer - http://kompozer.net/

Pros - Free! good basic program to get you up and running, umm..did I mention they are FREE! Cons - as they are free you get limited support and run the risk of the development stopping for one reason or another, limited bells and whistles.

Backyard Hacks Tainting Professional Website Development Industry

Today I searched Google using the key phrase "Web Development" and not surprisingly Google returned 154 million results.

Too often businesses and individuals alike are getting ripped off by quasi website developers purporting to be ultra qualified, yet fail to meet the industry benchmark and consequently giving the whole industry a bad name.

Like everything in life the buyer should "beware" However being that there is no minimum entry to become a website developer people simply assume everyone offering such services are in fact fully qualified and consequently it's sometimes not until they are onto their 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th generation website do they begin to realize that they have been ripped off and been given unqualified advice by unscrupulous operators who have no web development qualifications and /or no accountability whatsoever.

There are many reputable and talented website developers that offer and provide professional services but with no industry regulation they are tainted by the backyard merchants. This situation is very similar to the backyard motor mechanic of the old days and can easily be avoided by simply doing a little research and asking a few testing questions of website developer prior rather than later.

  • How long have you been developing websites?
  • Have you built websites like the one you are proposing to build for me?
  • Can you provide 5 references from companies you have built website for?
  • Can you provide 5 website addresses of website you built like the one you are proposing to build for me?
  • Do you have a documented, repeatable process to plan and build websites? Give me a written overview of the process?
  • Who owns the Intellectual Property rights to the software in my website?
  • What are your office hours? How can I get issues resolved after hours?
  • Is the website portable (i.e. can I move it off of your system)? Who can host the website?
  • Can you give me a line item breakdown of your setup fee / initial development estimate?
  • Do you provide training? 11. Is the software customizable (i.e. can I pay for custom modifications to the software)?
  • Is the website scalable? What is involved in making changes?
  • How much am I paying for hosting?
  • How much am I paying for software licensing, maintenance, and support? Is it a flat fee or hourly?
  • How much I am paying for ongoing content changes? Is it a flat fee or hourly?
  • When and if required do you take care of upgrading my website to a new version if and when required?

Web Development Tips For an E-Business Company

The Internet and the websites are the best way in which an organization can contact and communicate with their clients and customers. This is also one of the most essential feature that is kept into consideration when web development services are being carried out for a website. Here are some of the factors that you need to keep in mind while you are developing a contact us form for your website.

Now that you have already stepped into the world of Internet communication, it is advised that you make the most of it. The web is primarily used for communication these days, people contact businesses and their clients through the Internet. Hence, there are some essential web development factors that you need to consider before designing the contact us form for your website. The biggest mistake most web developers do is, that they make your contact us form too descriptive. This is generally not a very good thing to do on a website. It is quite unwelcoming and discourages users from filling up the form.

What you should always remember is that the contact us form is utilized in order to make it convenient for the users to communicate with you, and the same should be downloaded to the web development team as well. Hence, make sure that your web developers are leaving sufficient place for your viewers to express their thoughts to you.

Forms on the web have been threatened with the danger of SPAM. In order to prevent this, make sure that you use CAPTCHA ie. image distorting techniques that protect computer generated bulk messages from entering your contact us data.

While your web development team is creating your contact us form, make sure that they are not adding too many compulsory information in the site. This is extremely annoying to the users and they finally get distracted and move away from the page without filling in complete details.

Last but not the least, along with all the information and communication that you are doing with your clients and customers through these forms, make sure that your web development team is also creating a 'Thank You' page for your contact us form. This adds a little gratitude and also helps build a personal relation with the users.

Web Design in a World of Change

When it comes to web design one of the things I really like to see for a more hands-free experience for visitors is self-updating code.

In some cases this information is free. In other instances you may have to pay something to use it or allow the information to be ad supported.

Let's say for instance that you sell replica NASCAR vehicles. You might want the latest NASCAR news on your website. You can search for sources that provide the information either as scrolling text or in a side box.

There are sites that can make customizable content for your website for things like recipes, news, gardening as well as music and entertainment news. You can paste the code they supply into a webpage and watch as that information is updated on a regular basis.

This can be an important element for those who don't want static information on their homepage and can utilize information relevant to the primary business website.

It is likely that is a visitor clicks on a link within the text of this information they will be taken away from your webpage, but if they are used to finding that information with you they will likely come back for more.

It is sometimes difficult for business owners to keep up with every aspect of their industry and this type of updating tool allows comprehensive and current information to flow without intervention from the site owner.

One site that seems to do a good job of listing lots of free content for websites is freesticky.com. Categories include cartoons, education, entertainment, sports, news, maps, weather, tips and advice to name a few.

Most online sites look for relevant and changing content. The use of a free article directory can help you locate very specific content for your website, but for news and current events it can be difficult to broker individual agreements to cover the use of current content. That's why finding self-updating source code can be important to your web design.

You can even segment small portions of your website to include things like a quote of the day, this day in history, unusual facts, daily questions and even games.

These elements can add some personality to your website as visitors become used to intriguing content that never seems to stay the same even when other content might.

You should know that not every html code you place on your website will match the look and feel of your website. There may be some adjustment you can make to help this. It is also possible that the code may interfere with your website design and you may need some help from a code expert to either fix the coding issue or find something else that may be more suitable.

Some individuals are also using RSS feeds to accomplish a similar goal. The point is that no matter the method you use to obtain the information the addition of content that remains in a state of flux can help in providing an improved user experience for your regular site visitor.

Web Design Jargon Words

Web design is fairly new and constantly changing. Professionals have many words that the common person might not understand when it comes to the lingo of web design. If you are having a website constructed or reconstructed it is important to know at least a few key buzz words that are unique to the industry. Having the knowledge and understanding about what is being done to your site will only enhance your involvement so you can accurately describe how you want your site to feel. Here are a few words you should be aware of

HTML

HyperText Markup Language is the markup language for web pages. It provides a means to describe the structure of text-based information in a document. Basically it is the language that web pages are written in.

Tags

A tag is a keyword or term assigned to a piece of information for example an internet bookmark, digital image or computer file. This kind of metadata helps describes an item and allows it to be found again by browsing or searching.

Hyper Link

A hyper link is an image or portion of text that is highlighted in some way. It is usually underlined on the web text and its function is to connect the current document to another. Hyperlinks turn plain text into what is called hypertext.

Pixel

A pixel is the dots on a computer monitor. The resolution on a computer monitor is measured in dots per inch or pixels per inch. This is similar to printing pixels so if you have experience in printing then think of the monitor in the same terms.

Render

Rendering is the generation of an image from a model by using computer programs. The model is a description of three dimensional objects in a strictly defined language or data structure. It provides in formation on viewpoint, texture, geometry, lighting and shading.

Sitemap and Its Importance Today!

Sitemap is the smartest way for a person to know where each of your website's pages are locate. With the help of a sitemap a user does not need to go around your website trying to search the information he requires. A simple look at sitemap will show him the page and a click will take him there. This is simply just the single use of sitemap.

Internet is growing at a breakneck speed, no wonder there are hundreds websites coming up each day, with so many websites there is an obvious delay from the search engines for getting our websites crawled. Any spider bot trying to crawl your website will try and find out as many web pages as many available with your domain names. This consumes valuable time, instead you could tell what your site contains to the robots with the sitemap.

Another advantage of a sitemap, is you can tell the search engines, importance of each of your web pages and how often these are changed. Though this feature does not ensure that the search engines will crawl your website within equal intervals, however, it is possible that your website will get multiple crawls if you change it often for updating information.

Many search engines like the Yahoo and Google, now accept the sitemaps. You can expect your website to be crawled faster with a sitemap rather than those without it. you can find several tools online which can show you how you can create sitemaps all by yourself.

Creating a sitemap:

You can create your own sitemap, however, it is important that you have some prior knowledge of HTML (it is not so difficult to understand though you need to have some time). Sitemap coding can often become a bit difficult, a small space and your sitemap will be rejected by the search engine. When I tried to create my own sitemap, I had to stay up till 2 am and modify the simple sitemap at least 6 times. The sitemap that actually resulted was pretty basic.

However, you need not despair if you do not have the knowledge of HTML, you have many tools online which can actually generate a sitemap for your website. These tools are available for free as well as paid ones. You can study the guidance and protocols for sitemap on the website sitemaps.org

Paid sitemap generators are easy and automated. These generators study your website and create sitemaps that are properly coded and detailed. This sitemap would be very user friendly and would allow the user to steer to the proper page he is looking for.

A sitemap is important part of web development and should not be ignored; web pages indexed in your sitemap have all the chance to be indexed faster.

Instantaneous, Consistent Website Profits - All With the Addition of One Dirt Simple Web Page!

If you dream of nothing besides consistent website profits...if the notions of your cash register needing to be replaces every week due to overuse gets you wildly excited then you had better read each and every word here!

While the internet community continues to re-invent the marketing wheel every six seconds, what is being lost in the fray is the UNDERSTANDING of how people really buy things on the web. If you are looking to make outrageous, consistent web profits, then you need to immediately focus on one thing and one thing only...and that is your CONVERSIONS!

Are you buying great web traffic and seeing little or no sales?

Of course you are.

And that's because you are HAPHAZARDLY throwing those wonderful (expensive) people at your home page and you are crossing your fingers hoping they'll buy.

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE...

Your prospects need to be WARMED UP BEFORE THEY BUY, GUYS!

They need more info. You are asking the girl you just met not on a dat but if she'll spend the next 49 years with you.

Wrong!

You need an intermediary page that gets your prospects so EXCITED and so desperate for you to tell them more that they are willing to give your their name and email so that you can start a relationship with them! If it takes multiple exposures of your stuff for them to get comfortable enough to buy from you (it does) then you need CONSTANT COMMUNICATION!

You need to ask that woman to dance before you ask her to marry you. If you are going to get consistent website profits, then you need to play this game the right way.

So why isn't every web owner doing this if it's all been proven to work?

Time and expertise.

We have both. And we build web pages that will astound you on a host of different levels.

Flash Website Design - 3 Simple Steps to Easy Flash Website Design

The steps in flash website design are easy. The best way to create flash website designs is to get more acquainted with some media programs. You want to learn some basics in flash website design, including the starting point of creating your flash design by considering Macromedia or Flash. Flash enables you to create animations, movies, films, and much more and all you need to do is to learn how to click some tabs, open some programs, and so forth and you are on your way to creating flash website design. To get started you simply follow a few steps.

Step 1: Go to the Windows Taskbar by clicking on your Start Tab at the lower, left side of your Window screen.

Step 2: Find the menu screen

Step 3: Select "All Programs," and then choose Macromedia. If you do not see Macromedia, look for your "flash icon" on your desktop and then "double-click" on that icon to open your Flash.

Once your Flash media opens, look in the center of your interface to find the "Create New Flash Document" tab. Next, select create a new film or movie file. Once you click on this tab, you will see the "empty stage." There will also be a blank key frame and some blank layers, which are commonly "titled Layer 1." Now you can start your flash website design by following a few directions and reading some of the instructions provided to you in your flash media program. If you do not have a flash media program, you can shop on the Internet to find some free downloads and more.

Aesthetics of Website Designs

When you decide to take on the world-wide-web and elevate your business to the next level, the first thing you are going to need is a website.

Many website design firms simply turn out the same style of design over and over again. A website should not be just another cookie-cutter styled template. A website is the face of your business and your global presence available 24/7. Both the content and aesthetics of the website design should be something well thought out that reflects your business in a professional and positive light.

The most important consideration when planning aesthetics of website design is to keep the end-user in mind. If your designer doesn't discuss your audience, it is a big red flag. He should ask good questions and conduct relevant research. Who are your customers? What do they need? How will you solve their problem? How will the graphics, images and colors make them feel? Where will their eyes travel through your website design? How will the flow of the design make for an easy and intuitive experience? These are all key considerations a website designer should discuss in order to develop a website design that converts traffic to on and offline business.

Consider the color scheme for your website design. If you sell baby accessories, obviously you don't want the overlaying color scheme of your website to be red and black. Certain colors inspire certain feelings in people. Wouldn't white, light blues and pinks be a much better choice for this website design? These colors appeal to women and put people in a relaxed mood. They are associated with babies. Red and black represent action, speed, adventure, and technology - probably better suited for a website design for motorcycles, sound systems, speed boats or entertainment.

Your choice of images plays an important role in the aesthetics of website design. If you are a floral designer, you certainly need a lot of images that represent your work. If you are an accountant, your image choices will only serve to break up your text and make the copy less monotonous. Be careful with your image choices. First of all, images can slow down the speed at which visitors can access your site. Secondly, your images can hold or send away visitors quickly. A doctor client recently wanted to show videotaped surgeries on the home page for a women's health website. These details are better placed deep within a website if at all. Instead, we chose images which represented support, health and well being. The idea here was for women to see themselves healthy and to feel that there was a caring advocate behind the website with knowledge and expertise.

Understand your audience. Research your choices. Communicate with your website designer. Choose a professional internet marketing firm. These are all things that will help you develop a website that is both aesthetically pleasing and financially rewarding.

Working With the Pen Tool in Photoshop

Photoshop has multiple pen tools. The standard pen tool draws with the greatest precision. The freeform pen tool draws paths as if you were drawing with pencil on paper, and the magnetic pen option lets you draw a path that snaps to the edges of defined areas in your image. You can use the pen tools along with the shape tools to create complex shapes. When you use the standard pen tool, the following options are available in the options bar:

• Auto Add/Delete lets you add an anchor point when you click a line segment or delete an anchor point when you click it.

• Rubber Band lets you preview path segments as you drag between clicks.

Before drawing with the Pen tool, you can create a new path in the Paths palette to automatically save the work path as a named path.

The easiest path you can draw with the pen tool is a straight line. Click the pen tool and create two anchor points. By continuing to click, you create a path made of straight line segments connected by corner points.

Let's try it. Select the pen tool. Position the pen tool where you want the path to begin, and click to define the first anchor point (do not drag). The first segment you draw will not be visible until you click a second anchor point. If you select the rubber band option to preview path segments and direction lines appear, you've accidentally dragged the pen tool. Choose Edit > Undo, and click again. When you are finished, click again where you want the segment to end (Shift-click to constrain the angle of the segment to a multiple of 45°). Continue clicking to set anchor points for additional straight segments. The last anchor point you add always appears as a solid square, indicating that it is selected. Previous anchor points become hollow, and deselected, as you add more anchor points. In order to complete the path, position the pen tool over the first anchor point. A small circle appears next to the pen tool pointer when it is positioned correctly. Click or drag to close the path.

You can also create curved lines with the pen tool. Create a curve by adding an anchor point where a curve changes direction, and dragging the direction lines that shape the curve. The length and slope of the lines determine the shape of the curve. Drawing curves with as few anchor points as possible makes them easier to edit and your system can display and print them faster. Using too many points can also produce unwanted bumps in a curve. To prevent this, draw widely spaced anchor points, and practice shaping curves by adjusting the length and angles of the direction lines.

Let's practice. First, select the pen tool. Next, position the pen tool where you want the curve to begin and hold down the mouse button. The first anchor point appears, and the pen tool pointer changes to an arrowhead. The pointer changes after you start dragging. Drag to set the slope of the curved segment then release the mouse button. Extend the direction line about one third of the distance to the next anchor point you plan to draw. You can later adjust one or both sides of the direction line. If you wish to constrain the tool to multiples of 45°, hold down the shift key.

5 Basic Rules of Good Web Design

When designing your website, great care should be taken to ensure every last detail of the site performs at an optimum level and actually serves its purpose. Here are five simple rules of good web design that anyone would do well to remember when considering building or designing a new website.

1) Don't use flash intros

Flash intros are still commonly seen as the first pages many web visitors view when they arrive at a website. Flash intros or splash pages as they are also known, are normally short flash based movies with moving images and text; featuring information about the site and many times words like "welcome" or "click to enter website". In point of fact, they are just a distraction and inconvenience to web visitors that serve no real purpose. Don't force your visitors to have a reason to click on their browser's back button! Give them the valuable content of your actual web site... that is what they are looking for after all and get rid of the flash intro / splash page.

2) Don't use too many banner ads

These days even internet novices are astute enough to ignore banner advertisements so don't waste your valuable website real estate on annoying flashing banner ads. Why don't you just provide more valuable content instead? Then mix in some relevant affiliate links within your website's body content... this helps your website visitors feel that they want to buy instead of feeling like they are being pushed into buying.

3) Easy to use and intuitive navigation

An absolute essential as far as web design is concerned is the provision of a straightforward and clear navigation menu system. It should be so clear in fact that even an 8 year old could use it. Steer well clear of complicated flash navigation menus or multi-tiered dropdowns. If your visitors find your site hard to navigate they will leave your site and they probably won't come back.

4) Give visitors a clear indication of where they are

When visitors are browsing deep within the inner pages of your site and are enjoying being there you should ensure they know which part of the web site they are actually on at any given moment. By giving visitors a clear indication of where they are they will be able to browse all relevant information on your website or indeed navigate to any other section of your website with ease. Don't willingly confuse your visitors because confusion can lead to them leaving your website.

5) Avoid using background music on your website

If you really want your visitors to linger long on your web site, reading your content, the very least you should do is ensure that they aren't put off by annoying background music looping on your website. If you really feel you must use background music at least make sure visitors have some control over it - give them the option of volume or muting controls at the very least.

Building a Profitable Website

You've just built the most wonderful website, in your opinion anyway, and now you're ready to conquer the world wide web and start hauling the money to the bank. But wait, I here you saying; "Exactly how am I supposed to do that?"

This is a common question many people face on today's Internet. It's seems there is so much you have to do to get up and running... the list seems to go on forever.

You need to get traffic to your site. You need to start growing your opt-in list. You need sales and you need to make sure your site is SEO friendly and optimized to the max so you don't miss any chances in your search engine rankings.

While all these things and a lot more, are extremely important, all you really need is a plan to follow and realize it's just not possible to do everything at once. Below are three simple basic steps that will help get you started in the right direction.

1. Make sure your website has a proven sales process and killer sales-copy.

What's the point of doing all the work if, when you do get visitors, you let them slip through the cracks in the sales process.

Internet statistics show that you have around five seconds to convince people to stay on your site. Your headline must grab there attention and make it impossible for them NOT to read on. It has to make them feel like, in a short period of a few seconds, that they'll definitely miss something if they don't continue reading.

The best headlines tell visitors that they're going to find exactly what they're searching for, and compel them to keep reading.

You must make sure you guide them through an intentional process that:

* Identifies with their problem while building your credibility

* Engages them, and explains how you can help

* Explains exactly how your product will benefit them

* Overcomes any objections or obstacles they may have about buying

* Compels them to take action, and tells them exactly what to do next

You should always give you prospects a clear call to action that gets them motivated by re-stating the biggest benefit they'll get from buying now. Never assume that they will know what to do next. Tell them what to do. Instead of saying; "Click here to buy now" say something like; "Click Here Now for Instant Access to a System that will have You Writing Like a Professional in No Time". Take your readers through a proven sales process and don't give them a reason to click away.

2: Get Testimonials. Testimonials prove that your product really works and will do exactly what you promise and can also really boost your sales, for free.

How to get testimonials:

* Give your product away to friends or a small group of people in your target market, in exchange for their feedback and ask permission to use their comments on your site.

*Ask your customers to give you their vote of confidence by sending them an email or mail a feedback form to them through the regular postal service.

* Call your customers and make sure they are satisfied. Then ask for a testimony. Tell them you would like to use it on your website. Depending on what kind of service or product you're selling, tell them you will place a link to their web-site, if they have one, after their comments.

When you do start getting testimonials, make sure each one has at least a first name and preferably a last name, and a location (city and state), to prove they're from real people and even include their picture when possible.

3: Make it easy to buy. This is a step you simply cannot afford to miss.

* Make sure your navigation buttons state exactly what your customers will find when they click on them. Don't play games trying to look sophisticated or cute.

* Keep your site navigation simple and consistent throughout each page of your site.

* Make sure your site is not too busy with graphics and sales pitches for other products you offer. Keep it simple and don't confuse visitors.

* Provide the widest range of payment options possible.

* On your order form, ask ONLY for the information you need. Don't ask for information unless it's absolutely required to complete the process. The less work people have to do here, the more likely they are to buy.

* Include a phone number and a real physical address so people can contact you if they have any questions. This helps build credibility and brand you as someone they'll want to do more business with in the future.

While this is just the tip of the iceberg in getting started with websites on the Internet, these suggestions should get you headed in the right direction to a profitable experience in your new venture as a site owner. Your next step should be to learn all you can about promoting and getting traffic to your new site.

Why My Website Lacks Performance?

Does the above question ring any familiar bells? Are you one of those who had already spent a fortune on a website and after months or years, still waiting for it to start performing better? Or did you get the website made for your business just for the sake of having it, thinking it might be useful some day? If the answer to any of the above question is resounding YES, then welcome to the club of millions of website owners who are in same situation as you, if not worse.

Internet arrived with a big bang and bought with it the luxury of inexpensive communication and opportunity for commerce at a lightening speed. New age entrepreneurs grasped this opportunity and jumped in to get a slice of business to earn their share of bread or to expand their business horizons without giving much thought to the process involved in setting up their online shops. And this resulted in the problem of plenty, where the user is spoilt with choice and while few websites flourished and doing brisk business many are still waiting for their lucky day.

Here are few handy tips to get your website out of the soup and start performing better:

• Setting goals and practical expectations from your website is the first step. Every website is different and can be used to produce different results. You have to be clear about what your website is going to do for your business, is it to

- generate more enquiries
- showcase the product to the public
- sell your products and services online
- help people resolve their problems
- or just generate public interest

Write down your goals and hand it to the website development team and ask for suggestions. Or if you are one of those self trained website owner, start looking at best performing competitor's website and take notes.

• Go an extra mile to explain your products & services on your website. Do not limit yourself detailing products only with price and physical attributes. An ice cube is an ice cube - true! But it makes world of difference when showing Ice cubes you are also telling users about the source of water, hygiene standards maintained, delivery options and how important every order is for you.

You can go ahead and guide them on occasions when ice cubes can be ordered and in what quantity, show party pictures in full swing, show customer testimonies while your competitor website may still be talking about Prices only.

• Get a professional website design done with clear site navigation to help user easily surf the site. User spends less then 15 seconds before deciding to stay or leave your website so we better pay attention to it.

• Use your website address as an integral part of your business communication and mention it on all available resources like business stationary, packaging, advertisements, emails, catalogs.

• Keep investing in your website regularly as competition is fierce. You need to invest time and money regularly in upkeep and marketing activities to attract more visitors and make business grow.

• Don't lose customers; keep them happy by quick response system, regular updates on products and services, sending periodical newsletters, offering special privileges from time to time so that they keep returning to you.

Websites are not rocket science until you believe it to be. They are the new way of doing business and you have to keep ahead in the learning curve to use it most effectively to your advantage. Website break geographical barrier and help business grow to never before limits. Wish you all the best for your better performing website.
